Three years ago, I was walking through my Honolulu neighborhood in the mid-morning. A perfect Hawaiian day from the palm trees swaying to the plumeria blooming. From the outside, life looked perfect. But inside, I was still searching for something more.
That’s when I stumbled on Episode 12 of The Author Entrepreneur podcast by Jessica Debry. Suddenly, my two favorite worlds, entrepreneurship and authorship, collided. I binged every episode, made a plan to finish writing my microbook, and even found myself praying the host would have space for me in her publishing company.
And while listening, I couldn’t help but imagine:
What if one day, I got to speak on her podcast? What might I say?
Since the timing is never quite right to write, I decided that “now” was the time. I completed my manuscript, went through the Soulfluential Publishing process and became an Amazon bestseller. And then one day, the email arrived: Would you like to be interviewed by The Author Entrepreneur podcast?
That moment happened for me with Jessica DeBry because I decided that sharing my message was more important than staying safe in self-doubt and leaving my book in an unpublished journal.
I wanted to join Jessica’s podcast for three reasons:
Jessica is a professional who gets results. Her clients chart in the bestselling category every time they launch. She has a proven system and genuinely cares for her authors.
Her podcast changed my own writing journey in a profoundly positive way. I wanted it to spark that same possibility for someone else.
Talking to people you admire is good for the soul. These conversations open doors into circles you wouldn’t normally access. They inspire you to try new habits, hobbies, or even write the book you’ve been sitting on far too long.
Takeaways from My Conversation with Jessica
Your book can open doors you don’t even know exist yet. Writing it creates opportunities that waiting never will. Because someone out there is already waiting for your words.
The right timing doesn’t arrive on its own, you decide it’s right. That choice propels everything forward. Clarity comes from action.
Conversations fuel courage. Hearing from others and being heard yourself, reminds you that your story matters.

Nowadays, I still take my morning walks but they are in New Orleans. And instead of searching for something that’s missing, I’m exciting to discover something new.
Happy Writing!
Heather
